FOLLOW THE MONEY
The devastating earthquakes of April 25th and May 12th 2015 directly impacted the lives of millions of people. The sheer scale of the disaster and the effects it had on the population compelled Local Interventions Group (LIG) and Accountability Lab (AL) to initiate the Mobile Help Desk. At the first stage, the resource was designed to monitor and improve the earthquake response by closing the information loop that exists between the public and the government while simultaneously, plugging these gaps by directly providing essential information to earthquake victims. The second stage established the "Follow the Money" component. The goal is to track the financial flow for the relief component; from the central government to the local, VDC level.
The project is ongoing in 10 districts and involves over 70 volunteers actively seeking and providing information to their communities. Furthermore, our volunteers have actively raised awareness of government entitlement programs to earthquake victims.
This website will provide essential information to earthquake victims and those seeking to provide relief.
